Water taken for granted in Shawano, Wisconsin

I.10 Shawano, WI | Water is a valuable commodity that we don’t ever want to take for granted.  Shawano Mayor Lorna Marquardt took to the pulpit this weekend to chastise us city folk about our water usage.  We would like to dampen her fire and brimstone speech with a water story of our own.

Mayor Lorna wants to educate the public to the cost of their water usage; $0.46 for a load of laundry, $0.017 to flush the toilet and $0.99 for two hours of children playing in the sprinkler.  So when a water main broke in front of and flooded the basement of SIST‘s building at 303 E. Green Bay Street. who was left to foot the cost?  Not the city of course.  Apparently, Lorna was not too concerned about water conservation when it involved an SIST property.
